Chiara's Kenya

The story of Nurali Safaris Kenya, the Malindi travel agency born from a deep love for Africa

From Verona to Africa. The step is sometimes short. Today we tell you the story of Chiara Candelato, manager director of the travel agency Nurali Safaris Kenya, born six years ago, after several years of experience lived in Africa.

It is the story of a passion for travel, for culture linked to other peoples, of a love for Africa. It is the choice made by Chiara, a sunny smile, determination, engaging speech and Africa hanging like a pendant on her heart. Born and raised in Verona, she has always been passionate about travel, “of knowing other peoples, other cultures - she tells us herself -. Visiting Central Africa and going on a safari had been on my mind for a while, so I opted for Kenya and its parks. It was during this trip that I had the opportunity to meet a person who worked for a t.o. and after some time he offered me the opportunity to manage a boutique inside a resort, because it was my job in Italy too. I immediately refused because this change scared me a little, even if the idea of returning to Africa and living it in all of itself attracted me a lot ".

After 2 years, however, Chiara packs her bags and decides to moving to Kenya. “And so my adventure begins. The first few years I concentrated on commercial activity, but as soon as I had the opportunity I left for a new one safari, the reason why I had chosen Kenya. From here the idea of open a adv, and the decision of become a Professional Safari Guide Cetificate Kpsga (Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association)”.

Working in ecotourism

To date, he has no regrets about the choice he made. Of course, when she returns to Italy she is happy "because I see my loved ones and the places where I grew up again, but after a while I feel nostalgia for that land, Africa. Homesickness".

When we ask what it is the philosophy of the Nurali Safaris Kenya, she tells us that "it is to transmit and share with guests all the emotions that Africa offers us along the journey (safari), and that all those who have had the good fortune to experience it have left an indelible mark, a melancholy nostalgia that only subsides when you return. With us you can experience the emotions that once were the privilege of a few, being in direct contact with an unspoiled nature so that you can enrich your baggage with new experiences. Always respecting the surrounding flora and fauna. In simple terms we work in ecotourism ".

"Me and Masoud"

The main figures of Nurali Safaris Kenya are two, Chiara and Masoud. In addition to accompanying guests as a guide during safaris, his role is also to take care of the commercial and organizational aspects of safaris. Instead, Masoud “driver and certified professional guide beyond his skills also takes care of the maintenance and organization of the vehicle before each safari. Other professional figures with many years of experience in the savannah collaborate with us in times of need.

The product

The safari that Nurali Safaris Kenya proposes are built on measure. In the case of guests who come for the first time to experience a trip to Africa "and choose to go on a safari, in addition to giving basic information about the country they will visit and the choice of various programs (parks, accommodation, duration of the safari), we try to convey the emotions that they will try during this experience. For those who choose to redo the experience of a new safari, on the basis of what they have already experienced, we build a program that allows them to enrich the experience they have already tried ". In Kenya, especially on the coast and specifically Malindi, "there is a strong community of Italian residents, consequently many Italian tourists who come all year round. May and June are considered rainy months, even if in recent years the climate has changed and the days are often sunny and with little rainfall ”.

Chiara and Africa

With Chiara you could talk for hours, listening tirelessly to her stories, engaging and passionate. We ask you one last question. What is your Kenya, what do you like to propose? "This is what I experienced the first time I was there and what I have lived every day for about 10 years. It is difficult to explain the different moods I felt when I found myself in that reality. An emotion never felt up to that moment ... when I felt a new calm inside my heart - Chiara tells us -. The colors. I have rarely experienced any so vivid. Brushstrokes of sky, clay, green nature to be enchanted, flowers, scents of freedom and infinite spaces. Everything that moves in this scenario catches my attention: a goat, a lizard, a woman with her baby on her back, crouched in a sarong that acts as a cradle. The African world winds its way in dignified poverty before my eyes and captures me. The safari. The Savannah, the immense spaces, the huge, imposing trees and then the mountains in the distance, the absence of limits and constraints; without my even realizing it, as I leaned out of the window of the jeep being driven through the red lands of the Tsavo East park, tears were streaming down my cheeks. It was so exciting to find oneself in front of a boundlessness and infinity that I could not help but cry. I remember perfectly the first roar of the lion that made me vibrate every body tissue, the majestic grandeur of the elephants and their sweetness with the little ones, the elegance and timid curiosity of the giraffe, and the instant in which I thought about how much I wanted that land to become my home one day. The African sickness is the disease of awareness of being, the rediscovery of our lost primordiality. Feeling through nature. A nature capable of speaking to you without the need for words. Which encourages you and strengthens you in body and soul. Emotions on emotions, vibrations, sensations, chills…, incredible, unmissable, irreplaceable. This is my Kenya, what I love to propose ".
